Anthony Delivanis

French Horn

Anthony Delivanis joined the San Francisco Opera Orchestra as Fourth Horn in 2025. Originally from Mountain View, Anthony attended Mountain View High School and studied music under Robin Kramer and Jason Kneebone. He was also a member of the California Youth Symphony.

Anthony has performed with various orchestras in the United States, including the San Francisco Symphony, San Francisco Ballet, Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra, and other orchestras in the San Francisco Bay Area, such as Opera San José and the Santa Cruz Symphony. In college, he studied horn with James Thatcher at the University of Southern California and participated in the 2011 International Horn Competition of America and was awared Second Prize in the professional division. He later attended the New World Symphony as a horn fellow and was fortunate to have the opportunity to work under Michael Tilson Thomas.

Anthony had the opportunity to study horn with former and current principal horn players from the Metropolitan Opera, San Francisco Opera, and Los Angeles Opera, including Julie Landsman, Kevin Rivard, and Steven Becknell.

He is grateful to his teachers for their mentorship: his early SF Bay Area horn teacher, Daniel Wood, and Vivian McNulty, who was his band director that convinced him to switch from the trumpet to the French horn in the seventh grade.
