Tenor Thomas Kinch is a third-year Adler Fellow at San Francisco Opera. His San Francisco Opera highlights include Don José in Carmen, Melot in Tristan und Isolde, First Armored Man in The Magic Flute, Amelia’s Servant in Un Ballo in Maschera, Fourth Squire in Parsifal, and an Officer in Il Barbiere di Siviglia. This season, he performs Earl of Bothwell in Mary Queen of Scots and the Officer in Il Barbiere di Siviglia.

A participant in the 2023 Merola Opera Program, Kinch performed the title role in Act II of Verdi’s Otello for the Schwabacher Summer Concert. His recent and upcoming engagements include Tichon in Janáček’s Kát’a Kabanová with Polish National Opera, Florestan in Beethoven’s Fidelio with Utah Opera, Macduff in Verdi’s Macbeth with Paisley Opera/Scottish Opera, Turiddu in Cavalleria Rusticana (A Paisley Kiss) with Paisley Opera, and Licinio in Spontini’s La Vestale with New York’s Teatro Grattacielo. Previous engagements include First Armored Man in The Magic Flute with Welsh National Opera, where he was a 2022 Associate Artist; Turiddu and Canio in Cavalleria Rusticana/Pagliacci with Iford Arts; Lt. B.F. Pinkerton in Madama Butterfly with Opera Bohemia and OperaUpClose; and Turiddu with Edinburgh Grand Opera.

Kinch was a Tier I Semifinalist in the 2024 James Toland Vocal Arts Competition. He holds Bachelor of Music and Master of Music degrees in Opera Studies from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland
